Special Winter Session with Lyme Land Trust's Astronomy Group
Saturday, February 14:30—6:30 PMTrail 53 Observatory
See Saturn, Jupiter, the Moon, Venus and Neptune on this winter night at the trail 53 Observatory, hosted in partnership with Lyme Land Trust's Astronomy Group. If we are lucky, we will be able to watch Neptune disappear behind the left dark limb of the crescent Moon at about 5:00, so arrive on time for that. In addition to the planets, we will be able to see star clusters and winter nebulae. Young or old, experienced or totally unfamiliar, we look forward to exposing you to our uniquely dark skies here in Lyme!
We have several different telescopes that are on display including a 14″ Schmidt-Cassegrain housed in a permanent observatory.
Upon registration you will receive a link to directions and observing session guidelines. For questions or comments, please contact us at astronomy@lymelandtrust.org. And if you have a telescope, we encourage you to bring it out. The more, the merrier. Just follow the guidelines in the pdf you receive when you RSVP.
DRESS YOURSELF AND CHILDREN WARMLY. THE COLD PENETRATES AT NIGHT WHEN STANDING STILL.
Hot cocoa will be served to keep us warm on this chilly night!
