Join us for a discussion with local author Ron Farina! He will discuss his new book Out of the Shadows, Voices of American Women Soldiers, as well as his other works of fiction and nonfiction. Out of the Shadows honors the legacy and inconceivable sacrifice of nine women soldiers. This tribute is meant to honor all of America’s women soldiers, their inarguable bravery and heroism-and to lay bare for all the world to see the heart, courage, and sacrifices of the American Woman Soldier.
Ron Farina is the author of Who Will Have My Back a collection of short stories about caregivers to disabled American veterans, published by Lagrange Books, (October 2020). Out of the Shadows, Voices of American Women Soldiers, Lagrange Books (July 2022) , the second book in the Sacrifice trilogy. Out of the Shadows, Voices of American Women Soldiers is a narrative of nine courageous women soldiers, wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. The final book in the trilogy, Life Looks Different Now tells the stories of Families of fallen soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan and is scheduled for release in November 2023. At the Altar of the Past, a novel was released in November 2022. Other works include; Unsung Heroes, Keeping Promises, and Worn Torn, personal essays about the human cost of war. In 2021 Ron was awarded the WCSU, AWP Intro Award for Fiction (At the Altar of the Past) and The Society of Professional Journalists, Connecticut Chapter first place award for general column magazine feature, for the essay “Worn Torn.” Ron lives in Connecticut with his wife and two Golden Retrievers, Henry and Preacher. He served in Vietnam in1966 and 1967.
Ron holds an MFA from Western Connecticut State University.
